Aricep Donepezil Hydrochloride Tablets has been a modestly successful therapeutic agent for the palliative treatment of Alzheimer disease dementia. In 2011, seeking greater efficacy and an extension of the Aricept brand, a 23-mg formulation of donepezil was introduced. A large-scale trial, organized by Eisai, the sponsor, failed to show superiority in their primary analyses of donepezil 23 mg/day in patients with moderate to severe Alzheimer disease dementia vs 10 mg, but the published report used post hoc analyses to claim “statistically significant benefits.”

There was greater than a 3 times higher rate of gastrointestinal side effects with 23 mg of donepezil compared to 10 mg. Thus, not only does donepezil 23 mg/day increase the likelihood of unacceptable gastrointestinal side effects, it provides no clinical benefits. Aricept 23 mg is about 10 times more costly per pill than donepezil 10 mg.

Donepezil Hydrochloride Sustained Release Tablets is used to treat mild to moderate dementia in Alzheimer’s disease, a progressive illness that gradually affects memory and thinking. It does not cure this illness but may help improve memory, awareness, and other symptoms.

Your doctor will explain how to take Donetaz SR 11.5 Tablet. You may take it with food, preferably at night before going to bed. Follow the instructions carefully to get the most benefit. The dose may change from time to time to suit your individual needs.

It can take up to a few weeks for symptoms to improve so keep taking your medicine regularly. You should not stop taking this medicine without consulting your doctor.

Memantine is used to treat moderate to severe confusion (dementia) related to Alzheimer's disease. It does not cure Alzheimer's disease, but it may improve memory, awareness, and the ability to perform daily functions. This medication works by blocking the action of a certain natural substance in the brain (glutamate) that is believed to be linked to symptoms of Alzheimer's disease.
